For such men are counterfeit apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. —2 Corinthians 11: 13-14
Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man does, this and this only will he reap. For one sows with his flesh will reap ruin and destruction, but the one who does the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.—Galatians 6:7-9
Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, and driven demons out in Your name and done many miracles in Your name? And then I will declare to them publicly ‘I never knew you, DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO ACT WICKEDLY.—-Matthew 7:21-23
Before I get into the crux in this blog, I would like to reiterate a couple of things: 1. I am a Christian. I believe in the finished work of Christ. HOWEVER, I am NOT RELIGIOUS. I belong to a church and I like attending church, but I do NOT believe that attending a brick and mortar is necessary for salvation. It is merely a tool to hone your relationship with Christ. 2. I believe in the truth of the Bible as a collection of principles that help guide you in life and just like the brick and mortar church, it is a tool to hone your relationship with Christ. Your relationship with Christ breathes truth into your life through scripture. Scripture cannot stand as truth on its own without your relationship with Christ being in tact. 3. There will be people who read this and feel like I am wrong because it will challenge everything you have been taught about Christianity. Many people follow a white supremacist version of Christianity, therefore they will feel that I am wrong, lead astray and need prayer—and I am okay with that. God bless you.
I read something on social media concerning a prophetic dream related to Donald Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis. It wasn’t the post that really alarmed me; but the comments. I saw many comments that alluded to Trump being “under attack” and people “hate this country.” I follow politics, so I know that many Christian identifying individuals feels as if he is the politician “sent by God” because he is anti-abortion and anti-LBGTQIA rights. As a result, Pro-Trump Christian identifying people think he was placed in his position by God himself in order to maintain Christian values.
If you study the life of Christ, it is no way you could possibly think that Trump was ordained by God to uphold Christian principles. Trump continually sows discord and hate. He dog whistles tenets of white nationalism in order to remain in power. Immigrant women have had involuntary hysterectomies on his watch. God is love. Trump’s actions are the antithesis of love.
Although Trump has made it clear through his words and actions he is the antithesis of love, many Christian identifying individuals support and defend his hate because his rhetoric aligns with what they have been taught through religious channels. Many people vote against their own interests when it comes to education and economics because they feel Trump and similar politicians operate in righteousness due to the policies regarding abortion and gay rights. Many pastors push Pro Trump rhetoric to their congregants and the congregants buy the rhetoric hook, line and sinker.
The support of Trump from Christian identifying individuals is steeped in religion. Religion is the man made organizational structure in which humans use to make spirituality tangible. Religion is NOT the same a relationship with Christ. Relationship is freedom. Religion is rules, legalism and a mental prison where fear is the driving force used to control people.
Anytime a person can ignore what Trump has done and support him literally because he is anti-abortion and anti-gay, that person is ruled and bound by religion. Only religion will lead a person to be so shortsighted that they ignore a person’s blatant hate just because they use words that seemingly align with your beliefs. Only religion will allow you to forgo logic and vote against your interests. Religion is a cloak for people to abandon all common sense in the name of church and church culture. Religion is driven by the fear of going to hell and as a result forces one to abandon their discernment for political hyperbole. Trump has said he is a “strong Christian”, but his actions say he is power hungry and he is willing to use Christian values against the very person who hold such values dear. Religion will blind a person because they cannot see past what they hear. Religion will have you thinking you are going to heaven but have you following hate straight to hell. As a matter of fact, you don’t have to wait for hell in the afterlife because after religion convinces you to give up your abundant livelihood, you will experience hell on earth.
Only religion will have one thinking that Trump is under spiritual attack. Trump is not under attack. Trump is a manifestation of ALL THREE Bible scriptures I referenced at the top of this post. He uses Christian values against Christians in order to get them to vote against their interests. He claims to be Christian in order to obtain votes when it is clear he does not operate in love but he thrives on power and will do anything to keep it. He is using Christ for monetary and political gain. Relationship with Christ will allow you to see this, but religion blinds you to this fact.
Trump contracting COVID-19 may just be him sowing seeds he reaped over the last four years alone. I urge anyone who is a believer to pray for discernment and make sure that you aren’t being led and blinded by religion. Be Christ lead through prayer, not doctrine lead through religion and the clergy who benefit from you being bound by religion.
